WE ARE THE WINNERS !! – AGAIN in 2021!!

Baby Everly - March 2020
2020 Baptism of Grandbaby # 6 Everly

Last March, before the world went crazy we baptized grandbaby number 6, Everly and in March of this year will be welcoming number 7, a granddaughter whose name has not yet been shared. Life is good, always, no matter what. We live in the best country in the world and have had opportunities to make our lives what want them to be as our children and grandchildren do as well. We also continue our vigilance for them to never lose those hard won freedoms by the sacrifices of those gone before.

Today is the annual meeting day/Board election at Van Loon Commons which has its own issues including questions from some owners about the eligibility of certain candidates to be on the ballot after changes by the State of Florida to Chapter 718 and the 8 year term limits? Did our current Board members spend our dues on a legal opinion such as a break in service during 2020 for a few months might mean you did not serve for 8 consecutive years and therefore are eligible? See, that is what attorneys do when you pay them; interpret what is not specifically stated instead of going with the intent of the act. Oh well, as long as the “community” is happy.

A question of ethics others have discussed is for Board members to remain in place when they have not been able to be in the country for one year now and it is not known when they will be? Are Zoom meetings and FaceTime walk around the property calls the same as being present? For most things we would say yes but presence does matter. Our current management company does not have a local office but as long as someone is checking the property regularly for broken lamps, lightbulbs, etc, who cares? Wendy has been very responsive to all communications though we noticed one email that was not written in her educated language (we guessed easily the author) but sent from her address.

To be completed………
